Karma. The Line Between - Landscape Poster

Some events do not end at the moment they happen. They remain in places, in memory, and in the relationships we carry with others.

"KARMA" guides the viewer through familiar spaces — a home, a city, an airport, the mountains — which gradually assemble into a quiet story about choice and its consequences.

Memories and the present begin to merge, while the voices of loved ones return like distant echoes.

This is a film about a moment of passage — the moment when a person finds themselves between what has already been and what is yet to come.

Director’s Statement

Marcin Tomaszewski 4

I did not begin my path in cinema.

For many years my world was the mountains.

Climbing big walls and remote peaks taught me something that no school can offer — patience, humility and the understanding that some decisions change everything. In the mountains there is always a moment when a person stands between continuing forward and turning back. A moment when the outside world becomes quiet and only the weight of one decision remains.

Over the years I began to realise that these moments exist not only in the mountains but also in life.

My book Tato was the first attempt to speak about these experiences. Writing allowed me to revisit memories, relationships and events that shaped my life. Cinema became a natural continuation of that search — another way of observing silence, memory and the fragile space between what has happened and what is yet to come.

"KARMA" grew from these reflections.

The film is inspired by real stories, experiences and emotions gathered over years of climbing and living. It is not a literal reconstruction of events, but rather an attempt to capture a state — the moment when a person stands between past and future, between doubt and decision.

As a filmmaker I am still at the beginning of my journey. I approach cinema with the same respect and discipline that the mountains demanded from me. Step by step I am learning to build my own visual language.

For me filmmaking is not about explaining everything. It is about creating space for reflection — a moment where the viewer can pause and recognise something of their own experience.

"KARMA" is part of this path.

It is a film about transition, about the invisible weight of choices, and about the fragile moment when life quietly changes direction.
