Representative of the Italian Alpine Club in the International Association of Mountaineering Associations in the years 1987 to 1992.
Vice Chairman of the Arc Alpin Club since 1997 (Federation of European Alpine Clubs representing two million members). President from 2001 to September 2004.
Member of the Central Board of the Italian Alpine Club from 1976 to 1979 and 1991.
President of the Italian Alpine Club from 1992 to 1998. Already a permanent observer in the working group “Population and Culture” of the Alpine Convention.
