Oswald Rodrigo Pereira is a Polish-Portuguese high-altitude climber, film director, and cinematographer whose work merges extreme alpinism with powerful visual storytelling. Known for his minimalist, self-supported expeditions, Oswald has become one of the most distinctive voices in the world of mountain cinema—focusing not only on summits, but on the emotional, ethical, and human depth of climbing.

He has summited some of the world’s highest and most dangerous peaks—Broad Peak, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Makalu, and Kangchenjunga—without the use of supplemental oxygen or Sherpa support. He has also participated in two winter expeditions to K2.

For Oswald, the mountains are more than physical challenges—they are spaces for introspection, storytelling, and meaningful connection. Through his lens, audiences are invited into the silent, often brutal, yet deeply beautiful world above 8,000 meters.

Selected Expeditions & Achievements:

Makalu & Kangchenjunga (Spring 2024)

As part of the MAD Ski Project, Oswald summited Makalu (8,485 m) and Kangchenjunga (8,586 m) without oxygen or Sherpa support, together with Bartek Ziemski. Bartek skied from the summits—historic first descents, captured entirely by Oswald on film. On Kangchenjunga, Oswald had to bivouac at 7,600 m during descent, highlighting the extreme risks of unsupported high-altitude climbs.

Annapurna & Dhaulagiri (Spring 2023)

On Annapurna (8,091 m), an avalanche swept away their summit gear, yet Oswald and Bartek pushed on and reached the top without oxygen. Weeks later, they became the first team of the season to summit Dhaulagiri (8,167 m), again unsupported. Oswald documented both expeditions, including Bartek’s historic ski descents. After the climbs, they joined a rescue mission to save Spanish climber Carlos Soria (84), who was injured during his attempt on Dhaulagiri.

Manaslu Winter Expedition (2024–2025)

In December 2024, Oswald joined renowned climber Simone Moro and Nima Sherpa in an alpine-style attempt to summit Manaslu (8,163 m) in winter, without supplemental oxygen. Despite extremely high winds, the expedition was a powerful demonstration of Oswald’s alpine ethos and endurance.

Denali (2025)

In May 2025, Oswald summited Denali (6,190 m), the highest peak in North America, with Kuba Patecki. The expedition was fast, challenging, and documented for future film work.

Oswald’s films focus on the raw emotional journey of climbers—fear, doubt, perseverance, and purpose. His most recent documentary, “The Silent Escape”, premiered in South Korea in 2023 and has since been screened in over 25 countries worldwide, earning awards at national and international festivals. The film features the historic ski descents from Annapurna and Dhaulagiri and is widely praised for its authenticity and powerful cinematography.

His unique ability to document climbs from inside the action—not as an observer, but as a participant—makes his storytelling honest, intimate, and deeply moving.

Oswald Rodrigo Pereira represents the modern spirit of mountain adventure—raw, ethical, and artistic. He climbs without compromise, films with purpose, and shares stories that challenge not only the body but the mind and heart.
