How do you put down roots where not even trees grow anymore? Oreste’s Hutte, an alpine hut located at 2600 meters above sea level, is unique: off-piste, open even in winter, it is run by the Squinobal family, which has chosen to experience the mountain differently. The food is vegan, the energy produced is from renewable sources, and it is located off the slopes, to respect as much as possible the wild environment where it is located. Through the history of the hut, the documentary follows Arturo, the dad, Oreste, the uncle to whom the hut is dedicated, two great mountaineers who have written some of the pages of mountaineering, from the Aosta Valley to Nepal; but also of Franca, the mom, and Emil and Marta the children, with their respective families, who all contribute to the life of this place not like any other. At a time of climate emergency, where glaciers are melting, they teach us that we need to rethink our relationship to the mountain.
