Thirteen people from Velo Veronese, a small town in the Lessinia mountains north of Verona, tell a collective story about what it means to live in the mountains and what it takes to foster a sense of a community as they navigate the challenges of the past and complexities of the present. Ranging in age from 6 to 95, each has a unique perspective, informed by experience, memory, and temperament. Yet despite their differences, they share a deep reverence for life in the mountains. It’s through these stories that VELOVELODICO reveals the soul of Velo Veronese. Alessandro Anderloni, who for thirty years has brought his hometown to the stage with his company, Le Falìe (snowflakes), conducted interviews in both the local dialect and in Italian in the theater where the town “takes the stage.” Each resident speaks frankly with charm and insight about the people and places that hold the greatest meaning, leading us to understand that in their minds everything leads back to Velo.
