InBetween is a short visual freeride film about the fleeting space between experiencing a
moment and trying to hold on to it.
The film follows Phil Bucher, a photographer and freerider, as he travels through the wintery
Valais Alps with his dog Osmo. The search for snow provides the overarching framework. At
the heart of it, however, lies the experience itself: the waiting, observing, ascending, riding
and seeing in a landscape that is constantly changing.
Phil encounters the mountains not as a stage, but as a counterpart. His photography
becomes a second narrative layer, capturing what repeatedly vanishes from the film: light,
tracks, changes in the weather, bodies in space. From descents, images, sounds and
textures emerges an associative portrait of a man who moves through the mountains to draw
closer to them.
With minimalist visual language, sound design and mixed-media elements, ‘IN BETWEEN’
seeks not spectacle, but perception. A quiet film about freedom, devotion and those
moments that are visible only for a brief moment.
