Rudolf is 75 years old and lives in a little village in the Swabian Alb. The experiences of his childhood in the post-war period, led him to develop a closer bond to nature and animals than to humans. In his mid-twenties, he travelled for the first time to Alaska to search for a place untouched by people. He was always accompanied by his older brother Hans and a camera, with which to capture and document all. They built together a hut by a lake, far away from civilization. Rudolf spends many months every year since then in Alaska and the rest of his time in Germany. Today, Rudolf lives alone in an old farmhouse. Even if Rudolf doesn’t live an isolated life today, he still seems to be lonely. He and his wife live seperately, but he still has contact to their daughter. His older brother has been suffering under Alzheimers for 15 years and can’t remember their time together in Alaska. Since lately Rudolf has befriended black bears that visit him again and again and then he likewise films.
