Beat Kammerlander is undoubtedly one of the most iconic names in the sport of climbing. Few names are mentioned as often as his when it comes to the great personalities of climbing and the fearless adventurers who have shaped this sport into what it is today. Whether in sport, alpine, ice, or free (solo) climbing, hardly any athlete has developed as extensively as Beat, and few can maintain such physical and mental conditioning for so many years.

As early as the mid-1980s, he discovered extreme sport climbing routes in the mountains. Some of his most challenging climbs include "Silbergeier," "Neue Ära," and "Endless Story," which set new standards for difficulty in climbing (10th category).

In bouldering, the purest discipline of rock climbing, he also confidently climbs to a difficulty level of Fb 8a+.As a climber, he has made first ascents and solo climbs in extreme icy conditions, proving he can push new boundaries in ice climbing. His most difficult ascents of frozen waterfalls and mixed terrain include "Deja Vue" (M8), "Marilyn Manson" (M7+), and "Body Count" (W7).His extreme free solo climbs on ice and rock show that he is a man without nerves - "Mordillo" (10-), "Marilyn Manson" (W6), "Haza" (W6+).

At the age of 58, the Austrian realized his long-term project in his favorite area, Rätikon. This led to the creation of the five-rope route "Kampfzone" (8c). Beat has etched his name in climbing history primarily as the author of extremely difficult routes in Rätikon. He is also the creator of the route "Silbergeier" (8b+) from 1994, which continues to challenge the best climbers in the world today.
